This site-specific video installation asks the viewer to consider the accessibility and visibility of queer culture and establishments. In Toronto, most LGBTIQ community spaces, bars, restaurants, and shops have signs and large windows that face the street. Historically, these spaces were unmarked, windowless, isolated, and hidden; which remains the case in parts of Canada and around the world.
Evan Tapper’s animation, video, installation, and performance work explores issues of identity and connection. Scott Sorli’s transdisciplinary architectural, art, and teaching practice concerns itself with moments when form and matter engage the economic and political forces that produce the city.
